Masks are no longer required of clients, but they are recommended. Please wear one if you are feeling under the weather, or think you might have been exposed to a cold, flu, COVID, sick child, etc.. Because my office is small, and social distancing is not possible; I will still wear a mask during the session.
Distance work
For years, my sister would ask me if I did any distance work. My answer was always no because I had not been taught that specifically in school. But when we found ourselves in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we started experimenting. We would connect via telephone, and I would have a pillow on my lap where I would put my hands while at the same time visualizing her body. I used my craniosacral therapy skills and was surprised when I felt similar things as if I was giving her a session in person. We worked together for several weeks, and then I started practicing with friends. The feedback I received was very positive. So after a few months, I offered this service in my private practice.
I was calling it “distance craniosacral therapy”, however, there has been a lot of debate among Craniosacral practitioners about this and whether it can be called craniosacral therapy or not. Therefore, from now on I will just call it distance sessions.
Many of the clients who have received these sessions report lower anxiety levels, less pain, more relaxation, and better sleep.
Listening to the body
Our bodies have innate intelligence. It is constantly looking for balance in our systems to maintain optimum health. The pace of health is slow, and we often interrupt its process due to the fast-paced lives we lead.
As a bodyworker, I see my role as a facilitator to support my clients in a way that allows their bodies to enhance their health. I accompany them in listening to the clues the body gives us, and help create the conditions in which it can do its work.
How bodywork can support you
Right now there are many people, particularly women, who are feeling overwhelmed with their circumstances and with what is happening around the world. This is often experienced with high levels of stress and sometimes trauma. I believe that stress and trauma, whether their origin is physical or emotional, stay physiologically in the body. It is not important to know the cause, but if it is in the body, body-based therapies can help digest, integrate and or release them. Contact me about your particular situation and together we can define what modality or modalities of bodywork might be best suited to your needs.
